Ghost in the SQL Data is a detective game by Isaac Menard, released on Steam on 29 October 2026. A case gives you data, such as a year of calls to the Paris emergency switchboard, and a question: who called 14 minutes before the first witness saw the school on fire? You answer by writing SQL, filtering the data and joining tables. The first cases teach the basics, and later ones only give you the question. Results, their charts and your notes go on an investigator's board where you connect the clues.
Every case is set in Paris: a school fire, a metro ticket with no name, a crown stolen from the Musée d'Orsay. If you have wanted a reason to practise SQL, this game is built around it.
Why level 2: the developer's Steam disclosure says AI helped with the programming and produced the translations. The translations are text players read, so the level is 2, not 1. The developer asks players to report lines that read wrong in their language.
The price is $9.99, with 10% off to $8.99 at launch (US store, checked 29 October 2026). Windows and macOS.
